A wise man once said, “All good things must come to an end.”

A less-wiser man once said, “What’s in the microwave, today?”

Well…?

Cupcakes!

Well, what’s left of them, anyway. And incredibly apropos, as this will be the final post of “Stuff in the Microwave”.

In less than two weeks, I am moving out, to live on my own… and if I leave anything in the microwave, I sure as hell wouldn’t document it. That’d just be silly.

This was fun while it lasted, and while I’m sorry that I didn’t come up with this idea sooner (trust me, there were several opportunities for quality posts) I’d like to think that this whole blog will come back, someday soon, as an entry to my possibly upcoming anthology, Stuff About Me You’re About to Read… About.

Until then, I leave you Stuffies with this final thought: For Christ’s sake, please take the stuff out of the microwave!

Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado…

What’s in the microwave, tonight?

A… well, what the hell is it?!

Oh, okay. Hm… don’t know if that helps any. Though, from actual observation, it appears to be a plate of fried potato… bits.

And even though the title of this post says “11:15pm”, that’s actually when I came home and found the covered plate in the microwave; it is, as I type this out, 12:40am on December 14 - and the plate is still in the microwave!

I have to be honest: after so much time without an update, I was thinking I might have to put the old girl out to pasture; but then tonight happens and breathes new life into it!

As the hit song goes: It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life… and there’s stuff in the microwave!

Update on December 14, 2012 @ 5:30pm

The potato bits are still in the microwave.

Okay, now they’re out of the microwave.

… and in the refrigerator.

What’s in the microwave, tonight?

No, dear readers, your eyes are not deceiving you: you are, in fact, seeing not just one plate with a grilled cheese sandwich - but two plates, each with its own grilled cheese sandwich! Stacked one on top of the other!

These sandwiches were made, I kid you not, six hours ago!

Since then, the older brother has gone to work his overnight, the seventeen-year-old has come home and gone to bed, and the nephew and the woman who gave birth to him have settled in for the night.

If the leftovers from Friday are any indication, these plates will be sitting in the microwave until the older brother comes home from work… and might actually sit there even longer, depending on how much action the microwave gets, between now and… well, some time later.

Nothing like a special, rare two-for-one deal (literally) to help cap off the day.

Happy Black Friday! What’s in the microwave, this evening?

LEFTOVERS!!!

Ladies and gentlemen, what you see before you is a plate, three-quarters full of food, with ham, mashed potatoes, and green bean casserole.

Now, as Thanksgiving was yesterday, and it makes sense that this plate would be in the microwave, what doesn’t make sense is the fact that this plate has been in the microwave for a little over an hour! Not only that, but as the older brother has just gone to work, and everyone else in the house (including your intrepid blog author) is getting ready to head for bed, the odds are that this plate will not be tampered with until said older brother comes home - eight hours from now!

So here’s what I’m going to do, loyal Stuffies: right before I leave for work, tomorrow morning, around 5:30am, I’ll check the microwave and photo-document whether the plate of leftovers had been taken care of, or if it had been left to sit overnight.

What will happen to it, over the next seven hours? Stay tuned to find out!

Update on November 24, 2012 @ 5:20am

Well, here we are. Almost seven hours have passed since this initial post, and now the question must be answered: is the plate of Thanksgiving leftovers still in the microwave?

Well, let’s see…

What’s in the microwave, at this hour?

A plate of cookies!

Pardon… a covered plate of cookies!

While this may not be as humorous or just flat-out weird (like a bowl of random-ass water, for example) it’s still interesting, simply due to the mere fact that the cookies on this plate were made two days ago, and seemed perfectly fine on the counter!

This is almost as unnecessary as the whole “put a bag of chips in the refrigerator” thing that takes place, once in a while.

Oh, don’t know about the “put a bag of chips in the refrigerator” thing? Hm, maybe when I decide to finally do “Stuff in the Refrigerator”, I’ll have to share such examples.

What’s in the microwave, today?

A… random-ass bowl of water!

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, an actual bowl of water. Just coolin’ out. Imagine how foolish I felt, when I went to heat up my bowl of soup: remove bowl of water, heat up soup, put bowl of water back in the microwave.

After a week and a half of nothing, finally - still nothing!

Update @ 8:50pm

… yeah.

[Author’s Note: Though it’s not in the microwave, I felt photographic evidence of its migration would do much more justice than my words ever would.]

Update on November 7, 2012 @1:10pm

No picture, this time around, but just wanted to update on the bowl of water’s migration from the microwave… to the counter by the sink.

And, yes, the bowl is still full of water.
